A historic nine-hole layout, Needham Golf Course is a nonprofit private club that provides a vital role to the community. The course, a 3,109-yard, par-36 layout that first opened in 1901, was designed by Wayne Stiles. The golf course was built to help protect the watershed area of the town of Needham's water supply and continues to do that as it offers a quality golf experience. The course features known lush, tree-lined fairways, challenging greens and excellent conditions. The no. 1 handicap hole is the 398-yard sixth, a dogleg left with an approach that plays over a pond to a well-bunkered green. The facility offers reasonable membership plans in several categories. In addition to the course, a new clubhouse was built in 2011. Inside this beautiful structure is a golf shop and a full-service restaurant with a deck overlooking the first and ninth holes.
